Restocking Herder Households Approved

March 14, 2024. /MONTSAME/. During its regular session on March 14, 2024, the Cabinet of
Mongolia discussed a draft resolution on measures
to be taken to reduce the risk caused by dzud.
As animal death is increasing due to the severe
winter and spring conditions in rural areas, President of the Bank of Mongolia B.Lhagvasuren
was advised to make arrangements to postpone the principal payment of the loans
of the herders who are unable to pay the loans, or not to lower the credit
rating by making temporary amendments to the Regulation on the Classification
of Assets, the Establishment of Asset Risk Fund and its Spending.
The Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light
Industry, Kh. Bolorchuluun was instructed to finance the expenses for the
interest payments exceeding six percentage points of the accrued interest necessary
to be paid in the first half of 2024, within the approved budget of 2024. Minister
of Finance B. Javhlan was assigned to reflect the resources required for the last
half of 2024 in the 2025 budget.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection Kh.
Bulgantuya has been tasked to implement measures to restock the households that
have experienced large-scale loss of their animals
due to the dzud, within the framework of the Employment Support Program, within
the approved budget of 2024.
As of March 6, 2024, a total of 3.9 million herds
have died in 21 aimags as a result of extremely
harsh winter conditions.
