Canada to Provide Dzud Assistance to Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, March 28, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia Sandra Choufani on March 25, 2024. 

At the outset of the Meeting, Ambassador Sandra Choufani informed that the Government of Canada would provide CAD 215 thousand in humanitarian assistance to help alleviate herders suffering due to dzud in Mongolia.

Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene expressed satisfaction that during the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Canada in 2023, relations between the two countries were elevated to the Comprehensive Partnership. The Mongolian Premier expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government of Mongolia and the people of Mongolia for Canada's assistance to Mongolia at a time when the new era of relations between the two countries is beginning.

Ambassador Sandra Shufani thanked the Mongolian Prime Minister for taking the time to meet and expressed her commitment to working hard to expand Mongolia-Canada relations and cooperation in all sectors.

The assistance will be channeled through the Mongolian Red Cross Society.
