Prime Minister of Mongolia Expresses Gratitude to Japanese Government for Humanitarian Assistance

Ulaanbaatar, March 28, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Igawahara Masaru on March 25, 2024.


Ambassador Igawahara Masaru announced that the Government of Japan has decided to provide humanitarian material aid to Mongolia to overcome the dzud and handed over the letter sent by Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida to Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai.


Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene emphasized that the Government and people of Japan have consistently supported Mongolia’s society and economy's sustainable development. He expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of Mongolia's government, administration, and people to the Government of Japan, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and the Japanese people for providing humanitarian aid to overcome the dzud. He also noted that the Government of Mongolia is taking necessary measures to overcome the dzud promptly.


Ambassador Igawahara said, “We sincerely hope that the help we have provided will benefit the herdsmen and facilitate overcoming the dzud with minimal damage, enabling them to return to their normal lives.” At the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening the "Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity" between Mongolia and Japan, further intensifying dialogue and mutual visits at all levels, and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in the regional and international arenas.


Also, in 2024 Additionally, as 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of cultural relations between Mongolia and Japan, the Ambassador expressed a desire to expand and develop 'people-centered' relations and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
